Garret and I decided to take a weekend getaway to San Francisco and the Sonoma Valley just to relax and have some fun together. We had been talking of getting married after I graduated from college and I thought this trip was going to be the big proposal that I was looking forward to. Honestly, I thought I had him figured out.
After we arrived at our hotel we sat down to a nice dinner. The whole time I was so nervous because I was waiting for him to "pop the question." When dinner was over and we were back to the hotel I was upset and I asked him why he didn’t propose to me. He told me that he had planned to ask me to marry him on this trip, but DCI couldn’t get the ring ready on time. I was heart broken.
On the last day of our trip we had been visiting local wineries and it was getting late and I wanted to go to the hotel and pack because we had an early flight. He kept saying "There is one more I really want to go to. My boss says we have to go there!" Eventually we were driving through grape fields and we came out into a clearing set with a picnic of wine, cheese and chocolates. It was beautiful. After our picnic we went on a walk through the vineyard. I had turned around to eat a grape and when I turned back Garret was on one knee and asked me to marry him. The sun set just then and everything was perfect!
When we arrived home there was a big engagement party planned and everyone was there to greet us. As it turned out, I was the only one who didn’t know.
