6) Ride the Ferris Wheel

One summer between my sophomore and junior years of high school I was working with this youth program to earn a little extra cash. We had a career camp scheduled for a week out of the summer which we would get paid for. Which being a teenager was one of the greatest things, getting paid to go to camp. When I arrived at the office to leave for camp, as soon as I got out of my car and laid eyes on this most amazing guy I have ever seen, and to my advantage he was going to the camp as well.

During that week at camp I had so much fun. I got to know this guy named AJ. We spent every waking minute possible together sharing stories about how we ended up at the same camp at the same time. AJ was incredible! That Wednesday during camp we had a trip planned for the group to go to a theme park called Dollywood. Of course I had been there before because it was near my hometown, but this time it was different. I had the so much fun. It was fantastic! We spent that day getting to know each other more and just having fun. That was one of the best dates I’ve ever had.

Of course I was young and hadn’t really experienced true love yet, but I was pretty sure I was getting closer day by day on realizing what it felt like. Unfortunately, camp only lasted a week, but since AJ and I were living in the same town for the summer so once camp was over we went on a couple of dates, and continued talking for a few months. Then one day something happened and we stopped talking and he moved and I didn’t know where he was at. Then after 3 years I was coincidently talking to my cousin on the phone and he had been in contact with AJ just a few days before. I got his number so just maybe I could get in contact with him again.

After I got off the phone with my cousin I laid on my couch contemplating whether to actually call or not. I didn’t know what to say or whether he would still be interested in me anymore or maybe he had found someone else. I mean it had been three years since we had talked or seen each other. I eventually got up the guts and decided what the heck. So I called him. and thats the day my life jumped on the right track.

From that day on I haven’t been happier. After a couple of months talking again, he decided to move back in town and we moved in together. We made many many memories, and were very happy together. It had almost been a year since we been together and decided we were going to take a trip to Dollywood with my family. (Dollywood, the theme park from camp) As usual we had a blast! Near the end of the day we were getting ready to leave and head back to the hotel, but AJ kept insisting that we ride the ferris wheel, which we road the last time we were there. So we did. We got on the ferris wheel and the operator stopped us at the top and he got a ring out of his pocket and asked me to be his wife. I couldn’t believe he had pulled of such a big surprise. I was amazed, and so happy. AJ is the greatest man on earth and I am so lucky to be the one he picked to spend the rest of his life with.
