We had only dating about 3 months and he was 11 years younger than me but there were sparks flying from the first kiss. We started going places together just as friends since we were both going through divorces. I certainly had no intention of falling in love with a much younger man. We had been seeing each other for a couple of months but he had never kissed me so one night I was getting in the mood to be kissed & held so I asked him if he was gay or just didn’t want to kiss me! He kissed me and I knew my fate was sealed at that poiint.
He didn’t like to shop or be in big crowds but I wanted to go to Rich’s Department Store in Birmingham(close to where we lived) so he reluctantly tagged along. We shopped for a while and then had lunch in their tea room which was quite nice, a little romantic and a new experience for him. After lunch I was looking at some linens in the housewares department and all of a sudden, this shy man got down on one knee(yes the old fashion way!) and asked me to marry him. For once in my life, I was taken totally by surprise but he refused to get up until I answered, I said yes. That was 22 years ago and we are still extremely happy.
