Dale and his family had just came back from a week’s vacation in Mexico, and I had gone over to his place later that night. We were sitting around watching TV when Dale said he needed to go to a friend’s house. When he came back he asked me if I wanted to go get some ice cream. This was about 9 o’clock at night, and it was kinda of cold outside.
But being like any normal human being, I wasn’t going to pass up a chance for ice cream. We left the house, and then Dale said that it was colder than he thought, and maybe this was a bad idea, and suggested a walk instead. So we walked to a park near his house where we used to go when we first started dating. When we got to the park, one of the slides had candles running along its length. I thought something had gone on at the park earlier, andn they were just leftovers or something.
When we got closer to the slide, I could see baloons and flowers and I knew something was up, but wasn’t sure what. Dale brought me to the top, and took out a flashlight to read a note that had some of his favorite moments of us being together on it. The last one was "this moment now". He gave me the flashlight, got down on one knee, and pulled up his shirt. Using the flashlight, I read the "will you marry me" tanlines on his chest. I looked at Dale, and he repeated the words, and took out the ring that was taped beneath the slide. I, of course said yes, but I was crying so much I couldn’t even see the ring.
After that, we walked home to tell our families our great news. Of course his family, and probably half of Mexico already knew about it:) It was really romantic and a complete surprise!
