I met Stewart when I was in my last year of law school at a university graduate happy hour on a Tuesday. He was in medical school and I saw him sitting next to someone I had known from undergrad and he had the most beautiful blue eyes I had ever seen. I not- so – nonchalantly gave him my number. He asked me out on a date that Friday and we have been inseparable since!
On our 2 year anniversary, Stewart took me to a local theater to see a production of Fiddler on the Roof. I didn’t think anything of it as I love the theater. I did a lot of acting when I was younger and I was even in a production of Fiddler. We had really good seats. At the end of the show, when the cast took their curtain call, the actor playing the lead Tevye quieted everyone down, had the house lights brought up and said, "We get a lot of requests at this theater to do a lot of things. Most we deny. However, we had a special request tonight and in the spirit of Fiddler and marriage and matchmaking, is there a Dr. Stewart Davis in the house?" During the curtain call, someone had brought Stew a microphone. The house lights were turned down and a spotlight was put on him. He said that he couldn’t have found a more perfect time or place to ask me to marry him b/c he knew how much I loved the theater. He got down on one knee and we got engaged in front of the whole theater! The whole theater was crying and saying how sweet Stew was and how happy they were for us. A cast member congratulated us and told Stewart that he was really impressed that he was able to sit through the 3 hour show, knowing that he was going to propose at the end.
I found out later that we had been sitting in the seats of the owner of theater (The mayor of the city was at the theater last night and had to sit in the back:)) It was the most amazing night of my life!
