5) Easter Egg Hunt

My mother had been looking forward to having her two daughters home for Easter, and when I told her that I was going to be spending Easter with my fiance, Chris, and his family, so that we could hide the Easter eggs for his little cousins like we did the year before, I could hear the disappointment in my mother’s voice.

I always love to surprise my mom and just show up at the house 2 hours away from where I live, so my sister and I drove up that Friday night to surprise her, since she didn’t expect us to be there. We then headed back the following night, so that I could be with my fiance and his family on Easter Sunday.

The year before, Chris hid those plastic Easter eggs for me to hunt, and I knew he wanted me to hunt for them again. I love to hunt for the eggs, and he loves to eat all the candy that’s inside. When he was so eager to wake me up to hunt for the eggs, I didn’t understand what the rush was for I figured he just really wanted to eat the candy!

I came downstairs and hunted for all the eggs, and we went upstairs so we could sprawl out all the eggs onto the bed and eat the candy. When I got upstairs and looked on the bed, there sat an Easter bunny holding a much larger gold plastic egg that had "Eva, I love you with all my heart, Will you marry me?" written on the outside.

My eyes started to swell, I opened up the egg and there was a beautiful diamond ring inside. As I turned towards Chris, with tears of joy running down my face, he was down on one knee and asked me to marry him!

I jumped up and kissed and hugged him and of course said, "YES!" Then the door bell rang, and we ran downstairs.

I said to Chris, "Who in the world would be here on Easter Sunday?" He responded with, "I have no idea! Just answer it."

I tried to look out the peep hole, but there was a finger covering it. When I opened the door, there stood my whole family! I immediately started crying even more, because Chris knows how important my family is to me and how much it meant to me to have them there to give them the exciting news in person!

I couldn’t believe it! There really was no need to drive all the way to my parents’ house if we were going to see them on Easter Sunday after all! My sister had known since the previous Wednesday his plans to propose, and she rode home with me that Friday anyway, so it wouldn’t ruin the surprise of the proposal.

Turns out, when my sister and I left on that Saturday, she had called to let Chris know we had just left. That is when he called my dad to ask his permission to marry me, and see if they would drive down on Sunday morning to be there after he proposed! The reason for him rushing to wake me up and hunt for the eggs is because my sister had called him while I was still sleeping to let him know that they were parked down the street from my house.

It was a great day! Both of our families ended up spending Easter Sunday together and celebrating not only the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, but the plans to unite in marriage!
