The holiday that my girlfriend enjoys the most is Halloween. In October our house gets decorated with hundreds of pumpkins, witches, and other Halloween ornaments. Appropriately, since we live in Salem, Massachusetts. I felt this would be the perfect time to propose to my girlfriend.
In Rhode Island, the Roger William Zoo was having a Pumpkin Spectacular. The Pumpkin Spectacular is an event that happens every year in different locations, where a group of people carve 5000 pumpkins. All the pumpkins are illuminated with different themes, character, and words. I called the zoo to see if they would assist me with the proposal. They arranged two passes to get into the park with VIP status. This was due to the two-hour wait to get in. They also arranged to have a huge Jack-O-Lantern with the words, "Kim, Will You Marry Me? John", at the end of the trail.
After we walked through the path for 45-minutes, we rounded the corner where there was a crowd of people and three TV crews waiting. Kim was surprised when 3 cameras lit up and people started applauding. I got down on one knee and proposed. She said, "Yes." Luckily, the pressure was on. Kim did not see the pumpkin until afterwards. The employees at the zoo had a bunch of little gifts, balloons, and champagne. The employees were really great. We also got to take the pumpkin home. We had the best Jack-O-Lantern on the block and the best Halloween of our life.
