It was Valentine’s Day, 1981, a blind date. We actually met 7 years before, on a fishing trip, but we were both married to other people at the time. Our partners were both ill (seasick) and we fished, we talked and enjoyed each other’s company. It was cold and he gave me his sweatshirt to wear. A real gentleman. We got off the boat, I returned his sweatshirt and I didnt see him again until Valentine’s Day 1981.
It was a blind date, set up by mutual friends. We knew there was something familiar about each other. We remembered the fishing trip and knew it must be Kismit. Two month later, on my birthday, he proposed. We were in his car at the foot of the Crossbay bridge overlooking the ocean, (our spot) and they were just words of love, true from his heart. No ring, no fancy stuff, just beautiful words and a lot of love. Of course, I said yes. Two months later we were married. It will be 21 years this June. We’ve had our highs, and our lows, but we have always had each other and our love which has withstood the test of time.
