My boyfriend, Jay, was getting frustrated with how much time I spent online. Every time I was at his house, I was using the computer to research something — most recently, it’s been real estate, as we’re looking at houses.
One night, I came to his house after a board meeting for my animal rescue group. Normally, I would check my e-mail right away, but this time, I spent some time composing a letter to a woman who had some concerns about a cat she’d adopted from us. I wrote it slowly, making sure to choose the correct phrases and editing it several times. Jay seemed unusually interested in watching me type.
Finally, I was done…and went to open the Web browser to check my e-mail. Instead of his usual home page, up popped a photo of the two of us on New Year’s Eve — with the caption “Alexis, will you marry me?” Of course, I said yes — and was promptly presented with a gorgeous diamond ring (which he’d picked with the help of your book!). It goes without saying that we couldn’t be happier…and I’m thrilled that he found such a creative way to propose 🙂
