She asked…he answered. Shane (33) & I (24) met playing coed softball. Everything was perfect from the day we started dating. Only together 4 months, we had talked about marriage and knew we wanted to get married. Since our relationship was so awesome and different from any I have ever had, I thought why not make it even more different by asking him to marry me.
One night our teams played each other. All the people on our two teams were really good friends, so a few of the people on his team helped me. He was pitching and I was batting. I slipped my girlfriend, his catcher, the ring I got him. He pitched me three strikes in a row before she could manage throwing the ring box to him. As he starts to walk off the mound, cause I was the 3rd out, she threw him the ring box instead of the ball and he catches it not realizing what it is and keeps walking to the dug out. So I yelled, "Look in your glove." And about that time two guys in my dug out roll out a banner that said "Marry Me Papi."
Meanwhile the game going on on the other field stopped so everybody could watch cause everyone in the park knew it was going to happen. I walked to him as he was opening the box and I was shaking like a leaf and he gave me a big hug and kiss and said he loved me and I go "WELL?" and everyone on the field goes "WELL" and he yelled "Yes, of course!" And we hugged and kissed some more. He said it was a day he’ll NEVER forget and that I completely shocked him. He had absolutely no idea.
He coaches football so before our game he was at football practice so I went over a fellow teammates house and made the banner. It took a lot of nerve for me to do it, but I’m glad I did cause it is also a day I will never forget. That was 11/19, on 11/22 we found out I was pregnant and on 11/23 he proposed to me in Orlando at dinner with 8 of our friends on his knees. He told everyone, "I don’t know if you all know it or not but this past Monday during our softball game Holly asked me to marry her, and now it’s my turn!" And he got on his knee and said "Honey, I love you, will you marry me." With a 1.5 carat princess cut diamond.
