2) My High School Sweetheart

Arvin was a senior and I was a freshmen at our local high school when we started dating. We dated all the way through my high school years. We had talked about getting married alot, but it wasn’t until about a year after I graduated from high school that it was getting real serious. Arvin had bought a fix-er-up home right after I graduated from high school. Well, it took us a year to fix up. Right around the time our home was getting complete we looked at engagement rings.

I knew that he would ask me to marry him soon. He told me that he wanted to have home for us to live in and a good paying job before he would propose to me. At that time he had a good job and the home would be complete within a few weeks.  The day before he asked me to marry him, we were in the store were my engagement ring was because my friend worked there and I wanted to talk to her. Arvin kept trying to keep me away from the jewelry store because he had just bought the ring that morning. I didn’t know that at the time, well when I went to say hi to my friend I just wanted to glance at the ring one more time.

It was gone from the case and I thought someone else had bought it. The next day we bought some furniture and lamps and took them to our new home. Well, after we got there and dropped off the furniture he asked me to come sit down by him. I had a promise ring on my left hand and he asked me to take it off and reach in his pocket because he had something for me. It was the engagement ring I picked out.

He put it on my finger and asked me to marry him right there on our couch in our living room. So my high school sweetheart asked me to marry him in the home we live in now. Our home means so much to me now just because of that memory. We got married on May 28, 2004 after four and a half years of dating. This December will be six years together and we are fixing to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary.
