I told my fiancée that I had won a private tour of Enron Field, when I had actually rented the entire ballpark for one evening. Upon arrival, she was very suspicious. Once the tour started, she had no clue of what was to take place in the near future.
An employee of the Houston Astros began to show us the pressbox, and Diamond Club (owner’s seats and restaurant.) The tourguide then sat us down on the bench in the Astros dugout and explained how the roof worked, costs of construction, etc. We then walked around the warning track to the homeplate area, where I “took a knee” and proposed.
Needless to say, we are having a Sept. ’02 wedding!
