I was SOOOOOOOOOOO looking forward to this weekend. My sister, LS’s, and some of my friends were coming into town, and Cameron’s wine and cheese was Saturday. I had just finished my Family Medicine Shelf exam, and was about to surround myself with loved ones. Life was good. It was officially about to get better.

5.45p- Mia, Charisse, and myself were at the mall shopping and getting our nails done. My sister was coming into town to take pictures of Mia. She called, and Mia rushed me out of the nail shop because we "have to go, she’s waiting!"

6.05p- Mia and I pull up into my parking lot and there’s a note on my door. It’s an envelope with the monographed letter "L" on the front. Mia was sort of rushing me to take the note down but my hands were full and I had to unlock the door. When I finally took it down it read, " You are Cordially Invited. Leigh-Ann Charity Jones, your immediate presence is requested on this Friday, the twelth of October, Two Thousand and Seven at six o’clock sharp in the evening. Location: Omni Hotel Room #529, Charlottesville, Va. Key enclosed. Please come directly to the room…alone. ~BCW" Obviously, I was running late! At this point I was confused, but Cameron does sweet things for me all the time so I just figured he came into town to surprise me because I hadn’t seen him in a couple weeks. I rushed around and got myself together while Mia and Faith were laughing at me. At this point I was feeling really bad because I thought he had planned a nice surprise and I was ruining it by being late (as usual)! I’m shocked that I didn’t get a ticket on my way! I parked at the hotel and ran upstairs, expecting to see Cameron in the room…

6.13p- As I approach the door, I realize that Cam probably ISN’T inside. There’s another note on the door. The envelope read, "Before you go inside…" The note: "…she is worth far more than rubies (Proverbs 31:10). Once you get inside the room please take a minute to look around. 1) A bubble bath has been prepared for you in the bathroom. Please take a few minutes to unwind from a long day and prepare for an exciting evening. The alarm clock will sound when it is time for you to begin getting dressed. 2) An outfit for the evening has been prepared, and you can find it lying on the bed. I hope you find it to your liking. 3) Everything you will need to get ready should be in the bathroom. I have no question that you will look absolutely stunning…4) Please be ready to depart by seven o’clock, as you will receive a phone call at that time with further instructions. I walked into the room and it took my breath away. Music was playing softly in the background. The bubble bath was waiting. The dress…the shoes…the earrings…all on the bed. On the table was pictures of us growing up, pictures of us growing together…strawberries and chocolate…champagne. I tried to relax in the bath but a MILLION thoughts were running through my mind at this point (I won’t note them here!). The alarm rang, as promised. My heart was POUNDING as I got ready.

7.00p- The phone rang. It was the front desk. "Ms. Webb (huh!?), there’s a limousine waiting for you downstairs". I was shocked, and emotional. Trying to hold tears back, I went down to the front lobby and walked toward the limo, thinking Cam would be there. Wrong again. The limo driver struck up a conversation (apparently and randomly, he knows my father- SMALL world). Meanwhile, I’m thinking…JUST TAKE ME TO CAMERON. He hands me another note. Envelope: "While you ride…". Inside: "Hold on to these moments…Remember these feelings…Once the car stops…follow the roses!" On the way over I thought about all that Cam and I have been through, how far we’ve come, and how our relationship is stronger now than it has ever been. I thought about our future and a million and one other things. I was trying desperately not to cry and ruin my makeup so that I could look good whenever I actually saw him! (Omit funny details of limo ride here)

7.something- We (and by we I mean myself and the driver) arrive at the U.Va. Chapel. I’m excited and nervous…finally I find my trail of roses and began picking them up one by one. I passed a group of girls, who yelled out "Go get your man, girl!" and I assure them I’m going!!!!! I followed the trail of roses until I lose it. Then, out of the corner of my eye I spotted some girl smelling one of MY roses :)…so I gave her a hard time about it (kidding) and kept it moving! I spotted Cameron standing on the steps of the South Rotunda. He took my breath away standing there with a rose in all black- you can’t even begin to imagine how excited I was to see this man!

We walked around the rotunda and down to the lawn to take a walk like we did in undergrad and talked about our relationship over the years. We looped back around to the steps of the North Rotunda, and when we got to the top, the conversation ended with, "Remember what I told you I was thinking the first time I met you? I was thinking that you were the type of girl I’d like to marry…". At this point he got down on one knee (I don’t remember the rest, it was a completely emotional and joyous BLUR) and asked me to marry him. Of course at this point I was finally crying, and nodding, and could barely get out a yes. He put the ring (LOVE IT) on my finger and behind out a group of students who were having a gathering on the lawn erupted in "YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! WWOOOOOOOOhhhOOOOOO!" The paparazzi (Faith and Mia) jumped out of the bushes (ok, so I don’t really know where they came from but it seemed like the bushes) and started congratulating us and taking pictures. I was floating on cloud nine in disbelief and shock.

7.45p- My fiance and I (I like the sound of that!) walked back to the limo together…perhaps one of the happiest walks of my life!!!!!!!!! When we got back in, he said, "I have one more surprise for you". The driver dropped us off at L’etoile on West Main Street. Inside and upstairs, our parents were awaiting our arrival. We had a WONDERFUL dinner talking about the engagement, our future, and the merging of our two families (and you know I had to get the scoop on how Cam asked my father for my hand in marriage!).

I am immensely happy and look forward to spending the rest of my life with the wonderful man that God has chosen to bless ME with! Im still on cloud nine. I’m still amazed. It was like a dream come true, better than I ever imagined it could be and more!
