Does PLAT turn yellow?

Topic: Other

Q

Inside my ring it is stamped 14K PLAT LSC. I believe that the ring is platinum, however it has sort of a gold tone to it. It is The LEO. And it was very expensive, i just want to know why the color is slightly yellow, and should it be?

A

Tara,

This is mostly like a ring that has a 14k white gold shank (ring) and a platinum head (prongs). You are experiencing yellow gold bleed-through. This is normal for a white gold ring. I can see that a PLAT can me misunderstood as a all platinum ring. This ring is composed of two main types of metal.
