Topic: Ring Setting

I purchased two semi-mounts on Ebay which were said to be 14KT yellow gold. Upon inspection I noticed the mark said 14KTP. Thinking the P meant plated I put a file to the inside of the shank and it appears to be solid gold. What does the letter P mean?

Hi Richard,

It stands for plumb (meaning the ring is exactly 14K yellow gold not approximately).

P.S. Don’t use any more files.
