Fred’s Books - Fredisms
Foreward by the Author
 In the summer of 1998, I awoke in a Houston hospital
paralyzed on the left side of my body and having lost the memory
of the last 20 years of my life. I was only 35 years old at the
time. I had the memory of a 15-year-old. I didn't recognize my wife
and I couldn't understand why my parents looked so old to me. Up
until the stroke they would later diagnose me with, I took a lot
for granted; my friends, family, neighborhood, my country, my God.
I was only looking out for me. Oh I'm sorry, me and money.
When I was released from the hospital I began
a journey I believe we must all take at some point in our lives
and that is the journey to find out “who I am”. I read
the Bible, The Qur’an, The Dead Sea Scrolls, took a stab at
“Aramaic” the language of Jesus Christ and any other book
I could get my hands on to help me with the many questions of, “Why
am I here? Why are any of us here? What is the purpose of life?”
During my journey, I started a personal journal
of my thoughts and conclusions. I nicknamed the journal ‘Fredisms”.
I poured my heart into that journal with every observation and thought
regarding the meaning of life that I came up with. I carry my journal
with me to this day.
One day my publisher accidentally stumbled across
my journal and just assumed it was a new book I had written. I replied,
“No, it’s just my thoughts on what life means to me and
why I believe we are all here”. She asked permission to read
it. When she was done she told me that I must share my journal with
other people. That my insights could help light the way for others
when they found themselves in darkness. After weeks of prodding
I agreed. But under one condition, no editing, all the personal
stuff that maybe the world would not understand, must stay. First
and foremost this is my journal. I know life is a journey to a destination
unknown, but if my book can be a compass, I’m glad.
